Book Marketing Society Awards 

BMS are committed to promoting excellence in book trade marketing. As part of this commitment, we sponsor and administrate a number of Awards schemes, one to reward the best marketing campaigns throughout the year and one to reward the best blurb each year.

The schedule for the BMS Best Marketing Campaign Awards for 2010 is as follows:


First Award: for marketing campaigns ran between January and April 2010. Entry deadline for submissions will be on Friday 14th May 10, with the winners being announced at the BMS Open Meeting on 16th June 2010.

Second Award: for marketing campaigns ran between May and August 2010. Entry deadline for submissions will be on Friday 10th September 10, with the winners being announced at the BMS Open Meeting on Tuesday 28th September 2010.

Third Award: for marketing campaigns ran between September and December 2010. Entry deadline for submissions will be on Friday 11th February 2011, with the winners being announced at the next Open Meeting, date tbc.

The schedule for the 2010 Best Blurb Awards will be announced in due course. Submissions will be required in Jan / Feb 2011



Book Marketing Society Best Blurb Awards 2009 announced

Many thanks to everyone who voted in the Book Marketing Society's inaugural Best Blurb competition for 2009. In first place is The Other Hand by Chris Cleave and, very close behind in joint second place, The Birthing House by Christopher Ransom and Hetty Feather by Jacqueline Wilson.

The winning and highly commended entries for the BMS Best Marketing Campaigns throughout the year will automatically be entered onto the long list for the annual Marketing Campaign Award at the Bookseller Industry Awards, held in conjunction with the Book Industry Conference each Spring.

 

The Book Marketing Society Campaign Awards are judged by a panel consisting of:

  • Jo Howard (BMS Chair)
  • Jeremy Lee
  • Alastair Giles (BMS Secretary)
  • Jo Henry
  • Dominic Gettings (EuroRSCG)
 

The BMS Best Blurb Awards are judged by a panel consisting of:

  • Damian Horner, independent marketing consultant
  • Dominic Gettings (EuroRSCG)
  • Rob Williams
  • Alastair Giles
  • Jo Henry

The judges draw up a shortlist which is then tested on consumers, via the BML BookZone consumer panel, and the overall winners are based on a mixture of judging panel and consumer votes. The results of the consumer voting are released to the BMS membership.
