Thames & Hudson is the leading publisher of illustrated books on visual arts, history, fashion and popular culture, and includes titles published in association with brands, institutions, and museums worldwide.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy and creative Communications team at Thames & Hudson, the leading publisher of the visual arts in London, as our new Social Media & Content Executive. The role involves planning, creating and executing engaging and impactful social media campaigns, and creating excellent and interesting newsletters that drive results and sales, and retain and build audiences for our books and products.

The Role

  • Planning, scheduling and publishing engaging content across Instagram, Facebook, X/Threads, LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Delivering creative, high-impact social campaigns for book launches, seasonal moments, events and promotions in collaboration with marketing colleagues
  • Maintaining and managing content calendars, ensuring activity is aligning with brand tone, business priorities and campaign objectives
  • Contributing ideas in brainstorming sessions and helping to shape our evolving social strategy across current and emerging platforms
  • Creating and curating compelling, on-brand content tailored to audience segments and platform best practice
  • Producing editorial content for the website, including features, interviews, extracts, reading lists and video
  • Collaborating with internal teams, authors, influencers and partners to develop strong visual assets and amplify reach
  • Planning, writing, building and testing email marketing campaigns that are driving engagement, website traffic and sales
  • Supporting audience segmentation and developing targeted messaging strategies for key customer groups
  • Analysing the customer journey from sign-up to purchase, identifying opportunities to strengthen loyalty and retention
  • Managing and growing online communities by responding to comments, messages and inbox
    enquiries across social and email channels
  • Building authentic influencer relationships and encouraging engaging user-generated content
  • Monitoring performance across social and email channels and reporting clearly on KPIs, audience growth and engagement
  • Using analytics tools to generate insights and continuously optimising campaigns and content
  • Tracking trends, algorithm changes and emerging platforms to ensure content is remaining visible, relevant and innovative
  • Championing digital best practice across the business, identifying new technologies and efficiencies, including the responsible use of AI

 

Skills, experience and attributes:

This is an ideal second role in publishing or the arts, for someone with 1-2 years previous experience in a company setting, working on brand-level social media and newsletter content. It sits within a supportive team. Creativity, ownership and execution are key here, and we are looking for someone who is as visually strong as they are gifted with words.

The below are essential requirements:

  • Previous experience in publishing or the arts
  • Strong experience in creating elevated social media content for
    books / publishing / visual content
  • Interest in the visual arts and in the output of Thames & Hudson
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Superb, thoughtful and brand appropriate copy skills, with the ability to translate editorial copy into engaging, social and digital copy
  • Ability to create compelling content that works according to the particular requirements of each platform or social media platform
  • Video creation & editing skills
  • Strong skills in Adobe Express, Capcut and Canva – experience with Adobe Creative Suite is an advantage
  • A positive self-starter with the ability to plan ahead, prioritise and juggle schedule changes where required
  • Excellent author care and stakeholder management, shown through being proactive, communicative, welcoming and engaged with our projects and books
  • Keen to learn, striving for improvement and open to feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
