Who We Are

The BMS represents marketers within the book industry.

Our mission is simple:

  • to celebrate marketing excellence;
  • to create a forum where members can network, be inspired and develop their expertise;
  • and, collectively as a total membership, to provide more of a voice for marketing within and beyond the book industry.

Founded by Jo Henry and Alastair Giles in November 2004 with the objective of becoming the representative body of marketing and communication professionals within the book industry, BMS now has members from large, medium and independent-sized publishers, and the retail trade, from across the UK.

We are a membership organisation, run by Chairs and a Committee drawn from the members.
