Bonnier Books UK has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Marketing to lead its fiction marketing team and deliver far-reaching marketing campaigns for some of our bestselling books and authors including TM Logan, Stacey Halls, Rosie Goodwin and many more.

In this role, you will be responsible for setting the marketing strategy for the authors and books published on our Zaffre and Manilla Press fiction lists, and for managing the budget effectively. You will plan for and implement sales-driven campaigns to promote front list and backlist. You will be accountable for and report on the imprint goals and P&L, oversee the strategy and execution of our fiction marketing campaigns, and manage a great team of creative and commercially savvy individuals.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for stories and storytelling – whether through books, TV, film, or advertising – and extensive experience in direct-to-consumer marketing. They will be strategic, highly commercial and action-oriented, consumer-focussed and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. They will be adept at using data to inform decisions and deliver results.

Key responsibilities:

  • Create and deliver on clear and effective marketing plans, and drive sales and revenue for all the books published under our Zaffre and Manilla Press imprints
  • Manage a team of two to deliver successful marketing campaigns and drive sales for their allocated areas of responsibility
  • Work with the adult trade group marketing director and publisher to set budgets, forecasts, review spend and allocations
  • Work closely with the adult trade group senior team to inform our fiction publishing strategy, deliver on targets, set priorities, identify areas of focus as well as opportunities for growth
  • Drive audience development for key fiction authors and titles, as well as online communities
  • Set KPIs, monitor ROI, and provide ongoing analysis of marketing campaigns to inform our marketing and publishing decisions
  • Support a culture of collaboration and transparency, working closely with the sales and editorial teams, as well as senior leadership team

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong track record of delivering highly successful multi-channel marketing campaigns and expertise in direct-to-consumer marketing, online and offline
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical capability coupled with a hands-on, execution focus
  • Demonstrate a creative and imaginative approach to engaging consumers, with a proven ability to execute campaigns – in particular design and copywriting – to the highest standards
  • Experience managing budgets, reporting on KPIs and measuring ROI.
  • A proven ability to use various qualitative and quantitative data to inform decisions and measure results
  • Impeccable communication skills, and a proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • A proven ability to lead and develop others, inspire a team, and create a commercially oriented culture
  • Ability to drive process improvements, set best-practices, and take a pragmatic and a lean approach to getting things done
  • Book publishing experience preferred but not essential
