Marketing & Audience Manager, #Merky Books

Penguin Random House

CLOSING DATE: 16 June 2022

#Merky Books has an exciting opportunity for a talented marketing professional to join our dynamic and successful team.

Created in 2018 in conjunction with Stormzy and Penguin Random House, #Merky Books has quickly established itself as one of the most dynamic, exciting and important publishing imprints of recent years. We’re a lively and determined team with a wealth of experience, dedicated to representation, intersectionality, and empowering new voices. We are the home to pioneering fiction and non-fiction titles, and our current author roster includes Chelsea Kwakye, Ore Ogunbiyi, Hafsa Zayyan, Jade LB, Calum Jacobs, Malorie Blackman, Bola Sol and more.

We’re focused on upholding our ethos of uplifting a generation and are rapidly expanding our publishing programme to reflect this. As Marketing & Audience Manager you will be responsible for a range of tasks within three key areas: title campaign delivery, brand partnerships & initiatives (including our New Writers’ Prize) and social media & community management.

You’ll be part of our small but ambitious team, so you need to be entrepreneurial. You’ll also be comfortable with experimenting, with last-minute changes, with driving projects forward, and with championing new ideas.

Our desired new team member will:

  • Understand how to communicate with a range of audiences and stakeholders as the custodian of the #Merky Books brand online
  • Be proficient in social media strategy and digital advertising and have practical marketing campaign experience driving awareness and sales
  • Have a proven track record of taking projects from ideation and vision through to completion, balancing creativity with a commercial mind and a close eye on deadlines and budgets
  • Demonstrate a clear interest in the #Merky Books world and our vision for growth

We understand the barriers that hinder many to get into publishing which is why we are accepting submissions from candidates from non-traditional publishing avenues.

We’ll support you with your career development and provide you with training to get to grips with in-house systems, and the publishing industry. No two days will be the same and your new role will vary, so being adaptable and proactive will help you to excel within this position.

#Merky Books sits within the Cornerstone division of Penguin Random House and there may be the opportunity to work across the wider title list.

If you’re ready to join the #Merky Books team, then please submit your CV and cover letter outlining your reasons for applying and suitability for the role by the end of the day on Thursday 16th June.
