The role

Are you creative, organised, curious and a great communicator? Vintage is looking for an experienced Marketing Executive/Senior Marketing Executive (6-month FTC) to plan and implement outstanding multi-platform marketing campaigns for an exciting, enviable range of fiction and non-fiction from across the Vintage lists.

Key responsibilities

This role will be responsible for planning, budgeting, and executing various book campaigns across a variety of genres working with a range of other internal departments. Due to this, you will:

  • Be able to confidently contribute to creative brainstorms, generate ideas and develop them into sales-driving campaign strategies.
  • Be a passionate communicator with impeccable author care.
  • Display excellent organisational and planning skills, delivering campaigns on time, evaluating and sharing your results.
  • Have imprint responsibility for Fern Press, attending editorial meetings and contributing to imprint strategy
  • Produce best-in-class, attention-grabbing campaign creative and consumer messaging across all your assets and marketing material and develop fresh positioning for consumer facing and internal marketing materials.
  • Monitor campaign performance, analyse results, and benchmark against set goals and targets, establishing a framework for continuous improvement.

This role will always look for creative ways to reach new readers, whether through partnerships, social media initiatives, bookseller engagement or through memorable campaign concepts and copy lines. Therefore, you’ll always have a keen eye on competitor activity, be curious about the world around you, innovative and inclusive in your approach. In addition, you’ll be required to brief and run effective digital campaigns, implementing and measuring content strategies for newsletters and websites. You will have a desire to grow a great list of influencers, designers and other contacts

What you’ll bring

  • Demonstrable experience producing marketing campaigns ideally within the publishing industry or an experienced marketing team assistant now looking for more campaign responsibility.
  • An ability to leverage audience insights and data for marketing strategies.
  • Highly organised with an ability to handle conflicting priorities/projects.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and liaise with various teams.
  • Creative thinker with a knack for developing fresh ideas.
  • Experience in working with external agencies and managing media planning and activity.

Salary

£31-37k dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.

Hybrid working

While our offices across the UK are places to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, we recognise that flexibility around where you work is just as important. This is a hybrid role, working three days (Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays) a week in our London Office at Embassy Gardens.

The Role

Skills, experience and attributes:

This is an ideal second role in publishing or the arts, for someone with 1-2 years previous experience in a company setting, working on brand-level social media and newsletter content. It sits within a supportive team. Creativity, ownership and execution are key here, and we are looking for someone who is as visually strong as they are gifted with words.

About the role

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who has demonstrable experience in leading high-profile marketing campaigns across a broad range of genres, with a particular focus on non-fiction. From celebrity memoirs to cookbooks, from smart thinking and big ideas to literary gems and everything in between, you will be able to show your excellent grasp of working with authors, agents, booksellers, brand partners, international publishers as well as internal and external stakeholders throughout the publishing process and how to bring the benefit of these relationships into your campaigns.

You will have first-class digital knowledge and will bring this into your campaigns as an integral part of your planning and analysis for every campaign. You will have expert market knowledge across a variety of genres with particular focus on non-fiction, knowing when to focus on different media to deliver the best sales results.

Your extensive experience working with bookshops and booksellers will be invaluable in this role as you work far and wide to hand-sell our books at a grassroots level as well as across the world.

You should possess a meticulous eye for detail, have great communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team. You will be experienced at running a budget as well as line management and you will be able to demonstrate how you plan campaigns with consumer understanding at the heart.

The role:

In this role you will lead marketing strategy for key titles at Vintage, working across our range of imprints with particular focus on designing and executing best-in-class campaigns for Jonathan Cape. You will also lead marketing strategy for our catalogue and classics lists, devising audience-led campaigns that drive discovery and sales. You’ll have management responsibility for a team of two direct reports and will form part of the senior marketing team.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver outstanding, sales-driving campaigns for lead titles, as well as brand management for some of the Vintage biggest brand authors
  • Marketer for Vintage’s Jonathan Cape imprint, supporting imprint growth strategy and acquisitions
  • Lead Vintage’s catalogue and classics strategy from a marketing perspective, working closely with sales, editorial, publicity and with data and insight to identify and respond to opportunities to drive discovery and sales
  • Contribute to divisional marketing strategy as part of the marketing senior management team, supporting the Marketing Director and leading on key projects
  • Show leadership in creative thinking, strategic planning, taking an audience-led approach, on point positioning and copywriting, informed channel selection, campaign analysis, communication and collaboration
  • Line management and talent development of two direct reports

 

Essential criteria:

  • Proven track record in delivering high-profile, effective book marketing campaigns to the highest possible standard
  • Extensive experience planning, executing and analysing campaigns to drive book sales and build author profiles

General Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy Marketing & Publicity team. Supporting the team with administrative tasks, with scope to work on publicity and marketing campaigns in collaboration with your team and manager.  You will liaise with internal and external contacts and stakeholders (for example authors, agents, retailers, partners, freelancers). Sitting within our marketing team, you will report to the Marketing & Communities Director whilst also working closely with the Head of Publicity and Communications.

The Role

  • Providing administrative support for the marketing and publicity teams, such as scheduling meeting rooms, processing invoices and expense forms, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, booking travel and accommodation for authors, and organising marketing mailings where required
  • Producing Publicity & Marketing Updates, liaising with internal colleagues and freelancers to ensure others are kept informed of campaign progress and coverage achieved
  • Supporting the marketing team with events
  • Assisting the team and your line manager, working on marketing campaigns for titles and brand activities
  • Liaising between our Volume group imprints and the central Comms team
  • Maintaining excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assisting the marketing managers with any other projects
  • Assisting the Head of Publicity & Communications with publicity outreach
  • Implementing your own integrated PR campaigns across print, digital, broadcast and radio with support from your manager
  • Planning and executing author launches and events within budget
  • Maintaining the Publicity Events Calendar and ensuring the sales team is notified in good time of any stock requirements
  • Supporting senior publicists on projects
  • Coordinating with freelance publicists and marketers to obtain press pdfs and images, production schedules, ordering books, collating press clippings, and general administration
  • Overseeing the physical mailing and emailing of the seasonal sales catalogue to press contacts and overseeing the VIP catalogue list and mailing

 

Skills, experience and attributes:

This is an entry-level role, in a supportive team, which would be suited to someone with strong organisational and people skills. Previous publishing work experience or general office experience would be of benefit. However, much can be learned on the job.

The below are essential requirements:

  • Strong interest in the visual arts and Marketing/PR and a demonstrable passion for books/publishing
  • Administrative experience gained in a busy office environment
  • Accurate, with high attention to detail
  • Highly organised and efficient, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise appropriately
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of campaign plans for marketing and publicity promotion
  • Proactive, adaptable and self-motivated

Though based at our office in central Cheltenham, this will be a hybrid role requiring at least two days per week in the office. The role will require a strong team player with a flair for social media management, data analysis, campaign planning, design and who is happy to take ownership of key administrative tasks.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contributing to campaign planning to ensure the widest possible exposure for frontlist and new editions
  • Working with colleagues and authors to support the company’s online and social media strategy by providing and curating content
  • Designing branded collateral for the company website, social platforms and Amazon
  • Briefing Design for proofs, catalogues, marketing materials and providing copy

The role

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering top-tier marketing across all imprints within the division and you will develop a range of high-profile brands, authors and talent across both fiction and non-fiction.
