The Faber Marketing Department is looking to recruit a Marketing Manager. Working on campaigns across our adult publishing, this is a role for a creative and capable marketer who is excited by the idea of working on a diverse list of literary and commercial fiction and non-fiction. You’ll be experienced in running ambitious and original campaigns as well as presenting your ideas in author meetings and pitches, an effective copywriter who is easily able to communicate your design vision, an innovative digital marketer, and somebody who can identify audiences and knows how best to reach them. Working in a busy team, this is a job for a resourceful marketer who can plan and implement innovative campaigns for our books and authors.

Key responsibilities:
– Planning and implementing campaigns for a range of adult fiction and non-fiction titles
– Producing trade sell-in materials such as proofs, presenters and point of sale
– Working with a media agency to plan effective advertising campaigns
– Collaborating closely with publicity and sales colleagues to deliver joined-up campaigns which drive sales
– Briefing and project-managing freelance designers to produce a wide range of content
– Managing campaign spend ensuring activity is delivered on time and within budget
– Writing copy for book proofs, advertising and print materials
– Planning and implementing social media advertising campaigns
– Presenting ideas and campaign plans internally and externally
– Other duties within the department as required e.g. pitching for new acquisitions
– Author pitches and acquisition plans
– Representing marketing in publishing strategy meetings
– All elements of marketing campaigns including online and OOH advertising, briefing assets graphics, animations and films, organising partnerships, producing selling materials, proof briefing, copywriting, social media marketing and trade marketing.
– This is a full-time position based in our London office though we do accommodate hybrid working.

The opportunity

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc is looking for a dynamic, creative and forward-thinking digital marketing executive to work across the children’s division (trade and education) on an exciting list of authors, from picture books (Tom Percival’s Big Bright Feelings series, Jordan Stephens) to middle-grade (the iconic Harry Potter series, Katherine Rundell, Neil Gaiman, Ben Bailey Smith), to YA (Brigid Kemmerer, Jessie Burton) and many more. Working alongside the marketing teams and reporting directly into the Head of Digital Marketing (Social Media), you will be responsible for assisting the development and execution of key digital campaigns across the children’s list.

The ideal candidate will be an avid user of social media across the major networks (including TikTok) and have a desire to experiment with new content forms as social media’s ever-changing features continue to evolve.

The role

SOCIAL MEDIA
• Manage Bloomsbury UK’s primary children’s and YA-facing social media channels – TikTok, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook – by seeding out timely and engaging content, making sure that our communications are constantly relevant, and growing our follower numbers to defined targets.
• Work closely with the children’s marketing team to devise social/digital strategy and create/run bespoke campaigns for lead authors and titles, while also helping to shine a light on, and creatively express the breadth of, the wider Bloomsbury list.
• Manage allocated social media advertising budget, including optimising delivery of ads, and coding of invoices across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
• Collaborate with global marketing teams in the US, Australia and India on global releases.
• Create assets (photographs, Reels/TikToks, gifs) for use on book campaigns.
• Stay across the latest social media and digital developments/innovations, including competitor and wider industry activity, and update colleagues as required.

HARRY POTTER
• Always-on social media management for Harry Potter, contributing to and supporting the agreed digital strategy (in conjunction with the Head of Digital Marketing).
• Harry Potter hub on Bloomsbury.com – alongside the Head of Digital Marketing, working on the digital strategy for the Harry Potter area of the Bloomsbury website, including content strategy and user journey.

EMAIL NEWSLETTER
• Manage the children’s trade newsletter lists (including Harry Potter), helping to grow database numbers and ensuring content is released in a timely and appealing manner.
• Drive newsletter (and social) sign-ups
• Ensure newsletter content ties in with wider social and digital output.

Skills, knowledge, experience
• Professional experience of using all major social media platforms, including TikTok
• Up-to-date knowledge of best practises of social media advertising and industry developments
• Basic photography and video creation skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (including copywriting)
• Excellent time-management, prioritisation and organisational skills, with a close eye for detail and keen awareness of deadlines
• Experience of multi-tasking and prioritising a busy work-load with competing demands on your time
• Ability to adapt to changing daily tasks
• Proven experience of digital marketing

The role is a full-time permanent position.

You will be responsible for:

Concepting and designing eye-catching advertising creative and promotional assets across digital and print formats for Vintage books, to appeal to a wide range of audiences and across a variety of genres from literary, to cookery, to crime and classics.

Developing and implementing the design vision for Vintage across our online channels and branded materials, ensuring consistent high-quality design that aligns with our Vintage brand guidelines. Vintage has one of the largest and most engaged online audiences of any UK publishing house with a community of over 700k people across newsletter, website and social media.

Regular tasks will include:

Design of digital marketing materials including static and animated social media and digital assets, email and website graphics, style guides and presentations

Design of print materials, including outdoor advertising, point-of-sale items, advanced bound proof copy covers and press adverts

Design of static and animated assets for Vintage’s online channels, leading to high engagement.

You will have excellent design skills across both digital and print formats, strong attention to detail, an ability to interpret and bring your own creative flair to a marketing brief and to collaborate with marketers and a good creative and cultural awareness.

You will have proficiency in creating static and motion graphics via Adobe creative suite (including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects CC), Microsoft Office and experience of working collaboratively and creatively in teams.

A knowledge of the publishing industry is not essential, but we are looking for someone who is energised, creative and organised, with 18 months experience in graphic design.

This role reports into the Vintage Brand Director. Whilst we are currently working remotely, we expect this role to transition to our Embassy Gardens office in Vauxhall, London.

Joffe Books is looking for an experienced and creative Digital Marketing and Publicity Executive to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone currently working as a marketing executive with a start-up mentality, who is looking for a bit more autonomy in their role and wants to make a real contribution.

Joffe Books is a leading independent publisher, specializing in crime fiction, with a wide-ranging international audience. Joffe Books sold more than 2.8 million books last year and we’re looking to beat that record with your help.

Key duties:
● Using the full marketing mix, including social media, email marketing, and developing and monitoring digital advertising campaigns using Facebook and Amazon ads among others
● Working alongside our digital marketing exec to create marketing campaigns for several books per week, including copy and visuals
● Creating great video ads, eye-catching ad images and brilliant copy
● Ensuring Joffe Books’s profile continues to grow with regular press releases, from social media to trade press to national press, and celebrating our authors’ achievements
● Generating effective publicity for our authors and company brand: author events, blog tours, creating book packs, and more
● Budget strategy with a complete overview of ROI across our platforms/tools
● Monitoring key competitor and market activity
● Developing creative strategies for how we can spend money effectively so we can sell even more books
● Building the mailing list

Experience / skills required:
● Previous digital marketing experience, ideally in the publishing industry. A keen interest in crime/genre fiction
● Previous experience of planning, implementing and measuring digital advertising campaigns
● Proven success with CPC ad campaigns (e.g. Facebook and Amazon ads)
● Copywriting: press releases, ad copy, social media copy, awards submissions, etc.
● A strong eye for design and experience creating ads and/or videos (.gifs/.jpegs, etc.), and other publicity materials
● The ability to communicate with authors, agents and fellow staff effectively and straightforwardly
● Proactive and resourceful with the ability to work independently
