Working on the fiction and non-fiction publishing lists, the successful candidate will play a key role in helping to deliver bestselling campaigns for major brand names, upcoming new talent and critically acclaimed authors.
The role is responsible for the general administrative upkeep of the marketing department and enabling clear internal communication with key colleagues in sales, publicity and design. As the public face of various brand and imprint social media channels, you will create compelling consumer-facing content across a range of platforms and be adept at working with digital management tools and analytics. You will have an eye for design, a knack for writing memorable copy, confident graphic design skills and experience in video editing.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
- Collaborating with the marketing team on the planning and execution of key campaigns
- Manage content and updates for various imprint and brand social media channels, author websites and mailing lists
- Responsible for all marketing administration in the department and supporting the marketing director
- Audience engagement across our community channels, under the guidance of the campaigns director
- Collaborating and liaising with the sales, editorial and publicity teams to ensure all cross-department processes run as smoothly as possible
- Co-ordinating marketing material with our international publishing partners
- Maximising our efficient use of third-party platforms such as NetGalley

The Assistant Editor will work across the non-fiction and fiction lists for Mirror Books.
- They will assist the commissioning editors in the editing and processing of manuscripts and providing constructive feedback to editors.

Key duties:

Experience/skills required:

Icon Books, an independent publisher of non-fiction based near Caledonian Road station in north London, seeks a brilliant Marketing Executive or Marketing Manager to help get our books and series to increasingly wide and diverse audiences throughout the world.
The salary will be in the region of £25-28k dependent on experience.
Icon publish head-turning, thought-provoking popular books on science, language, sport, politics, business and much else besides, including the famous Graphic Guide series. Recent hits have included Daniel Chapman’s 100 Years of Leeds United, Simon Griffin’s F**king Good Manners and Gender: A Graphic Guide by MJ Barker and Jules Scheele.
We’re looking for a passionate, knowledgeable new Marketing Executive or Manager with at least one year’s relevant publishing experience, including planning and executing marketing campaigns. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable talent for engaging readers through social media, a sharp feel for cover design, experience in trade marketing, an understanding of metadata, and experience of working in collaboration with partners in the books world and beyond.
We’re looking for someone who is supremely organised and able to help plan and implement eye-catching campaigns, and evaluate their success. You’ll be able to cope with a busy and varied workload. A keen eye for design is important, as is knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop. You’ll lead the creation of our bi-annual catalogue, help create, curate and maintain our metadata, coordinate, and write copy for, our newsletter, run our social media and maintain and enhance relationships with booksellers and sales people. You’ll be excited by everything that’s new in books and publishing, and able to ensure that our marketing – on both our series and individual titles – is focused, efficient and effective.
