What you’ll be doing
Little, Brown Book Group is looking for a talented, energetic marketer to take on strategic management of all our literary marketing activity under the Little, Brown, Virago, Dialogue, Fleet, Corsair and Abacus imprints. These imprints are home to a wide range of literary fiction and non-fiction, including bestselling, award-winning authors such as Sarah Waters, David Sedaris, Jane Harper, Alexander McCall Smith, Celeste Ng, Margaret Atwood and many more.
Reporting to the Marketing Director, this is a senior role in the team, with involvement in the acquisitions and publishing strategies for these imprints and line management of a Senior Marketing Executive.

Who we’re looking for
The ideal candidate will be motivated, proactive and, crucially, a big reader of literary fiction and non-fiction. They will also have experience of managing people and of working in a busy marketing department at a trade publisher and with senior colleagues across the business.

We’re looking for a Marketing Manager to join our Cornerstone division. You’ll develop marketing campaigns for a range of Cornerstone titles – from pitch at acquisition, right through to post-campaign review.
As Marketing Manager, you’ll manage all aspects of campaign strategy and execution across both business-to-business and direct-to-consumer activity including: writing copy and briefing designers, planning media with our agency and liaising with a wide range of creative and digital agencies and partners. There may also be the opportunity to work across divisions on key group projects.
This role is both creative and strategic, so you’ll be able to demonstrate a strong track record in successfully planning, implementing and analysing a wide variety of campaigns.
The ideal candidate will have a marketing background, solid experience in running digital campaigns, excellent copywriting skills, delight in creativity and possess a strong eye for design. A background in publishing or entertainment/culture/brands would be an advantage.
You’ll be a self-starter, organised and able to work to tight deadlines, often under pressure and with excellent attention to detail. Job description
- Assist the marketing team with varied campaign work alongside any ad-hoc and admin based duties

- Manage small-scale marketing campaigns for titles with a low marketing budget.

Someone with a strong visual sense and a genuine interest in advertising, marketing and an affinity for our publishing would be ideal. Three quarters of the Marketing and Publicity Assistant’s time will be spent on marketing, with the remaining time on publicity.
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with an interest in pursuing a career in publishing to gain an unrivalled insight and develop their skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Crafting and executing eye-catching social media campaigns for their lead titles, with input from the marketing team
- Researching and recruiting social media influencers to help spread the word about our books
- Writing copy for marketing materials, bound proofs and campaign graphics
- Helping the team with campaign ideas and pitches
- Filling in administration work on our lead title campaigns, with guidance from managers
- Undertaking and organising mailings to bookshops, overseas agents, UK key accounts, and influencers
- Carrying out market research for their titles
- Developing content marketing contributions
- Taking meeting minutes when required
- Helping to keep key partners, authors and agents informed of their marketing and publicity activity
- Contributing news items and blog content to our websites
- Organising author travel and updating author schedules
- Undertaking various other administration duties as required in order to keep the department running smoothly, including but not limited to scheduling meetings, photocopying, printing, liaising with suppliers and so on

- Ability to carry out standard Office skills like MailMerge and spreadsheet filtering and sorting
- Social media fluency – Twitter and Instagram are their primary channels
- Photoshop / Indesign an advantage but not essential
