As Marketing Assistant, you’ll be the lynchpin of our busy, creative team and play a key role in helping us to deliver bestselling campaigns for major brand names, upcoming new talent and critically acclaimed authors across our fiction and non-fiction lists.
Providing support for the whole marketing team, you will be responsible for the general administrative upkeep of the department, and possess strong organisational skills that ensure the smooth running of all processes. Your excellent communications skills will enable clear internal communication with key colleagues in sales, publicity, editorial and design.
As the public face of our social media channels, you will be comfortable in creating compelling consumer-facing content across a range of platforms, as well as being adept at working with a range of digital marketing tools. You will have an eye for design and a knack for writing memorable copy, especially on social media.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
- Ensure the efficient running of the marketing team through general department admin support
- Creating and scheduling content for a variety of our company and community social media channels, including Instagram, TikTok and Twitter
- Support brand and marketing managers on the planning and execution of key campaigns across both fiction and non-fiction
- Creating and scheduling email marketing campaigns for our key brand authors and direct to consumer communities
- Communicating with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure we are working efficiently with other departments, freelancers and third-party suppliers
- Maximising our efficient use of third-party platforms such as Netgalley and Amazon Advertising
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple projects at once and deliver work to tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, including copywriting
- Proactive, calm under pressure, and able to work as both part of a team and independently
- Experienced with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Experienced at creating content for a range of social media platforms, including Twitter, Instagram and TikTok
- Familiarity with Mailchimp, Amazon Vendor Services and social advertising platforms beneficial
- Training in marketing or publishing is beneficial, and publishing industry knowledge or experience would be a bonus, but is not required

You will be responsible for:
Concepting and designing eye-catching advertising creative and promotional assets across digital and print formats for Vintage books, to appeal to a wide range of audiences and across a variety of genres from literary, to cookery, to crime and classics.
Developing and implementing the design vision for Vintage across our online channels and branded materials, ensuring consistent high-quality design that aligns with our Vintage brand guidelines. Vintage has one of the largest and most engaged online audiences of any UK publishing house with a community of over 700k people across newsletter, website and social media.
Regular tasks will include:
Design of digital marketing materials including static and animated social media and digital assets, email and website graphics, style guides and presentations
Design of print materials, including outdoor advertising, point-of-sale items, advanced bound proof copy covers and press adverts
Design of static and animated assets for Vintage’s online channels, leading to high engagement.
You will have excellent design skills across both digital and print formats, strong attention to detail, an ability to interpret and bring your own creative flair to a marketing brief and to collaborate with marketers and a good creative and cultural awareness.
You will have proficiency in creating static and motion graphics via Adobe creative suite (including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects CC), Microsoft Office and experience of working collaboratively and creatively in teams.
A knowledge of the publishing industry is not essential, but we are looking for someone who is energised, creative and organised, with 18 months experience in graphic design.
This role reports into the Vintage Brand Director. Whilst we are currently working remotely, we expect this role to transition to our Embassy Gardens office in Vauxhall, London.

The role
• Manage the children’s marketing team to deliver successful campaign activity for their allocated areas of list responsibility in line with agreed budgets, targets and outcomes.
• Work with the Group Director to audit and facilitate best practice in the team across key areas of marketing
• Work with the Group Director to pinpoint areas of focus for the team across front and backlist titles, ensuring this focus appropriately represents our ambition for key titles.

• Support a culture of collaboration, working closely with the publicity, sales and editorial teams, feeding ideas into the wider company and being a great spokesperson for the children’s marketing team.
• Work with the Group Director to set budgets and review spends
• Key point of contact for the Children’s sales team (UK/Export/Group offices) for key title planning across all retail channels, organising meetings as appropriate and regularly reviewing plans.
Knowledge, skills and experience
• At least four years’ experience in marketing and some line management experience
• Knowledge of working on major Children’s brands, with a proven track record in leading creative and effective Children’s marketing campaigns
• An in-depth understanding of the Children’s retail marketplace
• Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders including authors, editors, freelancer designers/animators, digital agencies
• Experience of working successfully with third parties on innovative marketing partnerships and initiatives
• Excellent trade and children’s book community contacts
• Excellent knowledge of current marketing best practice across on/offline platforms
• Broad market awareness within publishing and within marketing
• Up-to-date knowledge of best practises of advertising and industry developments
• Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
• A proven track record in running campaigns and building brands

This is a full-time permanent position offering a competitive salary. This role will be based at our beautiful offices in Bedford Square, London with flexibility to work partly at the office and partly at home however, as all Bloomsbury employees are currently working from home, this role will be based from home until our offices reopen.
