The award-winning Hachette Children’s Group Marketing Team is responsible for delivering creative, strategic, results-driven campaigns for our books, across new launches and established brands. 

What you’ll be doing

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Marketing Manager to join the Hachette Children’s Group Marketing team for one year, in a maternity cover role, focussing on middle grade, teen and YA publishing.

Reporting to the Group Marketing and Communications Director, you’ll be responsible for planning, presenting and implementing your own campaigns and overseeing the campaigns of a team of three, to deliver industry leading marketing for Hachette Children’s Groups 8+ fiction and non-fiction titles and authors and illustrators, through all channels and markets.

Who we’re looking for

The successful candidate will be an experienced strategic marketer with solid management experience and a broad understanding of a wide marketing mix for both B2B and B2C channels. Creative and self-motivated, you will have a strong track record of developing and implementing marketing campaigns. You’ll be confident delivering activity across the full marketing mix, always drawing upon insight to inform your plans.

This is a broad and varied role, and we are looking for somebody who will embrace working collaboratively with teams across the organisation.

We need you to bring a positive, can-do approach and build strong relationships with your direct reports, immediate team, other departments, as well as external agencies.

We’re looking for someone highly motivated, resourceful, adaptable and creative, who will bring new ideas, a passion for children’s publishing and knowledge of the children’s book market.

Bloomsbury Publishing is looking for a Marketing and Publicity Assistant to join the bright and innovative team working on education titles across Early Years, Primary and Secondary markets. Bloomsbury Education includes many popular and trusted brands and supports teachers and parents with titles for learning across the curriculum and reading for pleasure.

The role

  • Assist the Senior Education Marketing Manager with overall strategy for the list.
  • Manage the production of three education catalogue’s
  • Manage campaigns with limited budget as well as support the marketing team on other campaigns
  • Create flyers and other point of sale material for events and to support the sales team
  • Design and create publicity material such as bookmarks, presenters, proofs and bookmarks.
  • Maintain social media for the education list, in particular managing the Twitter and Facebook accounts
  • Update the Education section of the Bloomsbury website
  • Edit author blog content and manage the blog website
  • Check and respond to requests on the general education marketing email
  • Help with coordinating publisher presence at conferences and exhibitions throughout the year
  • Assist with the organisation, travel and accommodation of author events and teacher meetings
  • Attend school events, festivals, conferences and other author events as support to the education marketing team
  • Produce press releases and co-ordinate mailings for all frontlist titles
  • Compile minutes and agendas for regular marketing and publicity meetings
  • Write and schedule monthly e-newsletters to early years, primary and secondary teachers, as well as international markets
  • Maintain an up-to-date publishing schedule
  • Work collaboratively with editorial, sales and digital teams, as well as the wider Children’s M&P teamSkills, knowledge and experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Delivering strategic and creative campaigns for key releases and authors across the division.
  • Developing innovative, creative and targeted marketing activity including all planning, briefing and delivery

We’re looking for a super organised Campaigns Assistant to support our fast-moving publicity and marketing team. You’ll mainly be based within our Smart hub, which publishes serious non-fiction in areas like history, science, business, memoir and big ideas books.

You’ll ensure that the team has everything they need to engage readers and drive sales, from preparing for meetings and travel arrangements, diary management, processing invoices, updating databases that feed through to our suppliers and organising mailouts.

In short, you’ll be the point person for the team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to get your feet wet in a busy campaigns team. You’ll learn how to deal with press enquiries, run social media, and write promotional materials. You’ll build your network and work collaboratively with internal teams such as production, editorial, sales and rights, as well as advertising agencies, influencers and the media.

You’ll enjoy engaging in the world around you, whether that’s pop culture or news, you’ll have a meticulous eye for detail, and you’ll thrive on talking with a huge range of people.

You need to have a creative eye, both for visual design and copywriting, and any experience using design software would be a bonus.
